The exorcist

The attic scene in the exorcist is made to make it look like there is something in the attic, the girl claims she cant sleep and her mother goes to look in the attic with a candle, when she reaches near the back of the attic the flame blows and goes out and a man looking for rats is sitting in front of her. There is lots of tension in the scene until the camera is put onto the man looking for rats and the music stops when the man appears. The camera angles are very significant and the lower angle makes her look vulnerable and weak. Tension and the background music is used to make the viewer think that something bad is going to happen to the mother when she goes in the attic.
